Brevard County Animal Shelters Participating in "Just One Day" Campaign

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA -- In support of the nationwide "Just One Day" campaign taking place on Monday, June 11, 2012, Brevard County Animal Services will join animal shelters and rescue groups from around the country in an effort to get animals out of shelters and into homes.  There will be no animals euthanized in Brevard County shelters along with participating shelters around the country for "Just One Day."

As part of this day-long effort, Brevard County shelters are pledging to work toward the campaign goal of getting family friendly pets adopted and to reduce the number of homeless animals in the county’s vastly populated shelters.

“On this day, the shelters will be focusing on getting shelter animals adopted and no euthanasia will be done,” said Kathy Beatson, interim director of Brevard Animal Services and Enforcement.

Special adoption rates for the day will be $30 for dogs over six months old and $15 for cats over six months old.  All adoptions include spaying/neutering, rabies shots, county licenses and micro-chipping.

The South Animal Care Center is located at 5100 West Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne.  Contact the South Animal Care Center at (321) 253 - 6608.  The North Animal Care Center is located at 2605 Flake Road in Titusville.  Contact the North Animal Care Center at (321) 264 - 5119.  Both shelters are open from noon until 6:00 pm.
