Annual Gun Buy Back for Gift Cards in Cocoa

COCOA, Florida -- The Annual Gun Buy Back is taking place in Cocoa on Thursday, August 16, 2012 with the Cocoa Police Department and Rockledge Police Department.  Brevard residents have the opportunity to turn in guns in exchange for a gift card, according to Public Information Officer Barbara Matthews with the Cocoa Police Department.

The Annual Gun Buy Back will begin at 7:00 am on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Byrd Plaza Parking Lot, located at 801 Dixon Boulevard in Cocoa.  Each vehicle will have the opportunity of turning in up to two guns in exchange for a $50 gift card to either Publix, Walmart, or Winn Dixie per gun.  The event will last until the gift cards are gone, so citizens with guns are advised to arrive early.

Cocoa and Rockledge Police Departments ask citizens to please put the gun or guns (limit 2) into the trunk of your vehicles, unloaded if possible.  As you turn into the Byrd Plaza Parking Lot, you will be instructed where to go.

If you have any questions, please contact Officer Barbara Matthews at (321) 637 - 6309.

  1. What a waste of taxpayer money and firearms. Not going to do a darn thing.

    1. It is designed to be political theater to delegitimize armed citizens. It also defrauds some widows of $500 shotguns, and creates a demand for more new guns, so the gun manufacturers gain from this.
