MELBOURNE, Florida -- Brevard County Parks and Recreation is offering a Nature Nuggets program for the 2012-13 school year at the Rodes Park Community Center, located inside Max K. Rodes Park.
Nature Nuggets is a unique program designed to fit the needs of public, private, charter, and home school students. Sessions are held on the fourth Thursday of each month beginning at 10 a.m.
Each program includes a close encounter with one of Erna Nixon Park’s education ambassador animals.
This month’s program, to be held on September 27, 2012, is all about owls. Children will learn about the habitat, behavior and eating habits of one of Florida’s most beloved birds. They will have the opportunity to dissect an owl pellet and see what is inside.
Students will reassemble bones found inside their pellet to discover what their owl has been eating. This program is for children ages 5 to 12 and the cost is $2 per child. Each Nature Nuggets program will last about 1 hour.
